Life coach London: clarity, confidence and follow-through
Coaching for the moments when you know something needs to change but can't quite move. Get clear on what you want, and build the confidence and habits to make it happen.

I'm Tim Dunton, a qualified life and executive coach based in Farringdon. What makes my coaching different is what sits behind it: more than 20 years as a hypnotherapist and Master Practitioner of NLP. So when we hit the familiar obstacles, the procrastination, the self-doubt, the plan that never quite starts, we have tools that work on the automatic habits underneath, not just the to-do list.
What a life coach does, and what I add
A good life coach helps you see your situation clearly, decide what you want and take steady steps towards it, with someone holding you to account. I do all of that. Then, where something keeps getting in the way, we use NLP and hypnosis to change the reaction itself: the dread before a difficult conversation, the voice that says you're not ready, the energy that disappears every Sunday evening.
What clients bring to coaching
- A career change, a promotion or a return to work
- Starting a business or taking a side project seriously
- Decisions that have been circling for months
- Confidence in meetings, interviews and social settings
- Procrastination and following through on what you start
- Work–life balance, boundaries and saying no
- Life after a big change: a move, a break-up, children leaving home
How a coaching programme runs
- A free call. 15–30 minutes to talk through your situation and your hopes for it, and to check we'd work well together.
- Getting clear. The first session maps your goals, what's working, what isn't and what you keep putting off.
- Changing the pattern. We work on the habits and reactions that hold you back, using NLP and hypnosis where they help.
- Action between sessions. You leave each session with specific steps, and we review them together next time.
- Tools to keep. Self-hypnosis and simple routines you can use long after the programme ends.
Each session is an hour, face to face in EC1 or by Teams or Zoom. Most clients choose a 7-hour programme, spread over a few months so change has time to settle.
Life coaching in London, in person or online
The Farringdon room is a calm, private space close to the City, Clerkenwell and King's Cross, convenient before or after work. If your week is packed or you travel, every session works just as well by video, and many clients mix the two.
What changes clients notice
The first shift is usually clarity. Decisions that have circled for months get made, often in the first few weeks. Then comes momentum: the email gets sent, the conversation happens, the plan starts. Clients describe feeling lighter and more decisive, with fewer evenings lost to worrying about what they haven't done. Because we work on the reactions underneath, that progress tends to last.
Choosing a life coach in London
London has hundreds of coaches, and the right fit matters more than the badge. Look for someone who listens properly, who has real experience of the challenge you're facing, and whose approach makes sense to you. So the first call is free: you get a sense of how I work, put your questions to me and make up your mind in your own time.
- Do they have recognised coaching training?
- Can they help with the emotional side, not just the plan?
- Will sessions fit your diary, in person and online?
- Is the price clear before you start?
Coaching for confidence as well as direction
Plenty of people know what they want to do and still don't do it. Usually something quieter is in the way: a fear of getting it wrong, of being judged, or of finding out you're not as good as you hoped. Because I'm also a hypnotherapist, we can work on that layer directly. Clients find that once the fear loosens, the practical steps feel obvious, and the motivation they thought they lacked turns out to have been there all along.
Who you'll be working with
I've trained since 2004, with over 20 years' experience and hundreds of clients helped. I coach senior executives, founders and creatives as well as people at a turning point at home, and my client list includes familiar faces from the screen, sport and business. Read more about Tim.
Questions about life coaching
How is this different from therapy?
Coaching looks forward: what you want and how to get there. Where an old reaction keeps blocking progress, we work on it directly with NLP and hypnosis, so you aren't left talking about the same obstacle week after week.
How long does coaching usually take?
Most clients choose a 7-hour programme. Some come for a few sessions around one decision; others come back for a session whenever a new challenge arrives.
Can we work entirely online?
Yes. Sessions by Teams or Zoom are just as effective, and they suit busy diaries and clients outside London.
Do I need to know exactly what I want first?
No. Getting clear is often the first piece of work, and many clients arrive knowing only that something has to change.
What does it cost?
The first call costs nothing. After that it's £195 an hour face to face, £150 by video, or a 7-hour programme. See fees.
